Self Portraits

Our classes viewed a video about portraiture, then completed three different self portraits using three different media: realistic-pencil, Cubist-crayon resist, and an expresionistic cray-pas based on the style of artist Betty LaDuke.

Our class used the technique of contour drawing to draw the figure. We considered proportion and the distribution of weight to show a life-like pose. Then we drew two or more students and the surrounding room. Watercolor was used to add color and black markers of two widths to emphasize the lines.
