Andrea Ruth Harris

andreaAndrea Ruth Harris (nee Sommers), of Chicago, passed away peacefully at home, April 2, 2017 after a courageous two-year battle with ovarian cancer

Beloved wife of Bart Harris, loving mother of Aaron and Joel (Amy Ancheta) Harris, adored grandmother of Dylan Harris, sister-in-law of Maida Mangiameli, Jackie Glass, and Lee Harris, and beloved aunt of many. Daughter of the late Andrew "Hank" and Dorothy "Dot" Sommers of Coraopolis, PA.

A Chicago board member of the U.N. Women's Organization, environmental artist of international reputation, marathon runner of note (cornerstone runner on the 1980 Winter Olympics torch relay team), cross-country skier, and bicycle racing competitor (qualified for the US Olympic Trials in 1988 at the age of 40), Andrea's personal accomplishments were diverse as she was also successful throughout her adult life as a fashion model, clothing designer, writer, and friend to thousands around the world.
