Here are the steps for adding mixed numbers
when they don't have common denominators: |
- Find a common denominator
- Create equivalent fractions with the common denominator.
- Add the whole numbers.
- Add the fractions.
- Simplify your answer by putting it into lowest terms. (which
means you may have to turn an improper fraction into a mixed
number and add it to your whole number answer.)
