Matthew E. Cobb
eighth-grader at Windham Middle School

WINDHAM - Matthew E. Cobb, 14, of Gray Road died unexpectedly Friday at his home.

He was born in Portland, a son of Mark and Heidi Hutchinson Cobb.

Matthew was an eighth grade student at Windham Middle School. He enjoyed fishing on Chebeague Island and lobstering with his grandfather, ''PuP'' . He restored a dinghy and named it ''Lil Miss Molly.''

He also enjoyed baseball, skiing, basketball, soccer, drawing, writing, swimming, making model rockets, CO2 car building and racing, boating, hockey games, music, biking and spending time at the family home on Chebeague Island.

Matthew was a member of the Civil Air Patrol. He wanted to be a Navy Seal and a professional soccer player.

Surviving are his parents of Windham; a brother, Tyler Matthew Cobb, and a sister, Molly Madalyn-Rose Cobb, both of Windham; his maternal grandparents, Bruce A. and Delores Dyer Hutchinson of Portland; his paternal grandparents, James G. and Donna Abbott Cobb of Windham; his maternal great-grandmother, Esther M. Dyer of Cliff Island; and his paternal great-grandmother, Dorothy R. Abbott of Mechanic Falls.

Visiting hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Dolby Funeral Chapel, 434 River Road. A funeral service will be held at 9 p.m. Wednesday at the North Windham Union Church, Route 302, with the Rev. Richard Small officiating. Burial will be in Chebeague Island Cemetery.
