Bruce H. Riddle, a cherished member of the Chebeague Island, Maine, community, passed away suddenly on June 2, 2025. He lived a life full of love, dedication, and meaningful connections, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Born on November 27, 1951, Bruce spent his entire life on Chebeague Island, a place he held dear in his heart. His parents, Herman “Red” Riddle and Priscilla (Doughty) Riddle, as well as his brothers, William, and Robert Riddle, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Cindy (MacNeill) Riddle, Brother, Barry and Sister-in-Law, Melanie (Black) Riddle, Nephew and God Son, Gregory Riddle, Daughters, Vicki (Stephen) Todd and Sarah McKinnon (Kyle Koerber), and “Baba” to Cameron and Caleb Todd. Nephews; William, Timothy, Robert, Brent Riddle, and too many cousins to count! Bruce married into a large family, graciously welcoming his brother-in-law and five sisters-in-law, nephews and nieces into his life. He shared a particularly close bond with sisters-in-law, Cathy MacNeill and Julie (MacNeill) Doughty, and nephews Josh and Dylan and nieces, Karly, Jodie and Mindy Derby and grand nephew Theodore (Teddy) Doughty.
To his friends and neighbors, he was more than just a familiar face—he was a cornerstone of the community, always ready to lend a hand, share a story, or bring a smile with his quick wit and nostalgic tales of the "good ole’ days."
Bruce’s warmth and big heart were matched only by his unwavering commitment to his community. Whether engaging in local initiatives or attending community gatherings, Bruce exemplified the spirit of togetherness. His love for Chebeague Island and its people was evident in every aspect of his life.
A celebration of Bruce's life will take place on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at 11:00 AM at the Chebeague Community Church. Following the service, all are invited to a reception at the Chebeague Island Hall Community Center, where friends and family will gather to honor his memory and share stories of his kindness, humor, and community spirit.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Chebeague Community Church, where he was a proud Member or to The Chebeague Island Fire & Rescue where Bruce served for many years and to whom the family would like to extend their deepest gratitude for their support over the years.
Bruce’s legacy of love and kindness will forever live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
