Nancy Stone Martindale, 61, the former assistant to the president of Ricoh Corporation in West Caldwell, died Thursday, May 17, 2007, at her home in Charlotte, N.C.

Mrs. Martindale was born Oct. 27, 1945 in Montclair to Richard Clifford Stone and Doris Terry Stone of Upper Montclair.

She graduated from Montclair High School in 1963 and attended Berkeley Secretarial School.

She held several executive assistant positions, including secretary to the president of Ricoh Corporation in West Caldwell. Most recently, Mrs. Martindale was an administrative assistant with Oak Grove United Methodist Church in Charlotte, N.C.

According to a family spokesperson, "Nancy loved nature and knew every type of flower, plant and bird imaginable. She touched many lives with her caring spirit and optimistic attitude."

Mrs. Martindale is survived by her son, Brian Wight Martindale and his wife, Brianne, of Burlington, N.C.; her daughter, Lisa Martindale Brown and her husband, Jason, of West Caldwell; her granddaughter, Emily Clark Brown; and her sisters, Marilyn Stone Davietof Upper Montclair and Virginia Stone Mackin of Cornelius, N.C.

She was predeceased by her sister, Barbara Stone Owens of Montclair.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, June 8, at St. James Episcopal Church, 581 Valley Road in Upper Montclair.

Born October 27, 1945 in Montclair, NJ, she was a daughter of Richard Clifford Stone and Doris Terry Stone of New Jersey. She was a graduate of Montclair High School class of 1963 and administrative assistant for Oak Grove United Methodist Church.

A memorial service will be conducted 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 22, at Oak Grove United Methodist Church, 6440 Old Statesville Road, Charlotte, NC, with Rev. Harry Queen and Rev. Patrick Welch.
Survivors are her son, Brian Wight Martindale and wife, Brianne, of Burlington NC; daughter, Lisa Martindale Brown and husband, Jason, of West Caldwell, NJ; granddaughter, Emily Clark Brown; and sisters, Virginia Stone Mackin of Cornelius, NC, and Marilyn Stone Daviet of Upper Montclair, NJ.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara Stone Owens.

The family extends to Dr. Warden Woodard, III, Dr. David W. Roe, Hospice of Lake Norman and the entire staff at the Laurels a sincere thank you for your kindness, support and care for Mrs. Martindale during her illness.
