Madeline L. Craven
Madeline L. Craven of Chebeague
Island, passed peacefully on Oct. 5, 2005 in Freeport.
Maddy was born in Dorchester, Mass.,
and went to school in the greater Boston area.
Maddy and her late husband, Captain James
J. Craven Jr., raised two children, Gail and Carleton. They lived
many places while stationed in the U.S. and abroad.
Maddy's sense of adventure, her passion
to help others, her love of being with friends, children, grandchildren
and great grandchildren was evident wherever she went.
Throughout her life, Chebeague Island
was a mainstay. For many of the later years she spent the summer
and fall seasons in Maine and winters in El Paso, Texas near her
daughter and granddaughter.
Maddy is survived by a daughter, Gail
Watson of El Paso, Texas; grandson, Stephen Watson and his wife
Marette, of Richardson Texas; granddaughter, Karen Wentworth and
her husband Jim of El Paso; great-grandchildren, Michelle, Katherine,
David, Kendra and Colin. Maddy is also survived by her adopted
grandchildren, Dirk Abrahamson of Yarmouth, and BJ Abrahamson
of Chebeague Island.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate
her life on Oct. 24 at 1 p.m. at the Chebeague Island Methodist
Church.
