Joan Moynihan

Joan R. (Rogers) Moynihan, 81, of Hooksett, died peacefully at her home on August 13, 2011 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on January 24, 1930 at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, MA to Ralph W. Rogers and Jesse (Luther) Rogers and lived in Belmont, MA for 56 years.  She was a graduate of Belmont High School and Boston School of Dental Nursing.  Joan worked as a dental assistant until having children.  She moved to New Hampshire in 1986 and worked at Sears and Auto Fair in Manchester.  Joan enjoyed doing volunteer work at the Elliot Senior Health Center in Manchester.  She was predeceased by her husband Francis J. Moynihan.  She was a lifelong summer resident of Chebeague Island, ME.  Joan loved animals, her island home, and spending time with family and her many friends.

She leaves behind a daughter; Jan Moynihan-Cooney and her husband James Cooney of Windham, NH; a son Brian Moynihan and his wife Melba of Aubrey, TX. and five grandchildren; Breanne Moynihan, Shauna Cooney, Kerry Moynihan, Colleen Cooney, Kevin Cooney and a sister; Jane Rogers of Portland, ME.

A memorial service at the Chebeague United Methodist Church followed by a burial alongside her husband at the Island Cemetery will be held on August 18th at 12:30.
