Gertrude (Felber) Jones, wife for 39 years of the late Dr.
Frank Stafford Jones, died on Sunday, October 27, 2002 at Avery
Heights in Hartford. She was 100 years old. Born in Revere MA
on December 25, 1901, she was the daughter of the late Gustav
A. and Susan T. (Rhodes) Felber.
Gertrude was graduated from Winchester MA High School and Garland
Junior College in Boston. She was a member of the faculty (violin)
at The Hartford School of Music (Hartford Conservatory) from 1927-1932,
member and past president of the Hartford String Orchestra and
The Musical Club of Hartford and a trustee of the West Hartford
School of Music.
She is survived by one daughter, Carolyn Macdermott of Middletown,
CT; two grandchildren, Sandra of Middletown and Michael of Portland
ME; one niece Barbara (Weld) McGuire of Ithaca NY and two nephews
Robert B. Weld of Las Vegas NV and David C. Weld of North Caldwell
NJ.
She will be buried at the Chebeague Island cemetery on Chebeague
Island ME, her beloved summer home for 78 years, where a memorial
service will be held next summer.
