Donald E. Fish, 77

CUMBERLAND - Donald E. Fish, 77 of West Cumberland, died Dec. 6, 2004 at a Portland hospital after a brief illness.

He was born in Vanceboro, Nov. 24, 1927, son of Archie and Evelyn Alexander Fish and attended schools in Vanceboro.

He married Martha Joyce Maynard in 1961 and they were married for nearly 40 years before her death on March 13, 2001.

He was shop steward for Coles Express for many years and retired from UPS in 1991. While working at Coles Express he made a delivery to the Shriner's Hospital in Springfield, Mass. Upon his return to Coles Express he went to see the owner, Gerald Cole, and asked how he could become a member of that organization. He went on to become Master of the Casco Lodge in Yarmouth and a member of the Kora Shrine.

Surviving are three daughters, Deborah Mauro of Stratham, N.H., Roxanne Liberty of Gray, and Nancy Small of Cumberland. He is also survived by an aunt, Peggy Bailey of Brunswick; Avis Latimer of Dover, N.H.; four grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be 6-8:30 p.m., Thursday, at Wilson Funeral Home, 24 Shaker Road, Gray, followed by a Time of Remembrance at the funeral home starting at 8:30 p.m.
