Richard Allen MacCormack

 CUMBERLAND - Richard Allen MacCormack, 75, of Chandlers Cove,
Chebeague Island, died unexpectedly Friday at his home. He was born on Chebeague Island, a son of Daniel Evan and Nettie Woodsum MacCormack. He attended Chebeague Island schools and was a graduate of Chebeague Island High School and Burdette Business School of Boston.

Mr. MacCormack served with the Navy in the Pacific during World War II.

He worked in banking for several years, holding positions with Belmont Savings Bank of Belmont, Mass., and the Maine National Bank of Portland.

He owned and operated Sea Lodge Products on Chebeague Island and was caretaker for the Hope Island Club in Casco Bay for more than 20 years.

For several years, Mr. MacCormack was an active volunteer at the Chebeague Island Library.

He was called "Uncle Dick" by his many nieces and nephews. Young and old considered him a good neighbor and friend, family said.

Surviving are several nieces and nephews and a foster son, Mark McGoon, currently serving with the Navy in California.

There will be no visiting hours. A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. July 12 at Chebeague Island United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Chebeague Island Cemetery. Arrangements are by Conroy-Tully Funeral Home, 172 State St., Portland.
