Shelters

Mrs. Asch's art class on Chebeague created wonderful shelters! This art project was integrated with Mrs Smith's study of biomes with the emphasis of art concepts of color and texture. The children are in the process of writing poems and putting the poems to music which we will be adding to this site next week!

After the children created their shelters they put them into the woods behind the school where they became part of the habitat so you will have to look closely to see them. They are hoping to see squirels, birds and other animals utilizing their shelters.

I made a little house
In it lives my little mouse
There's severed light
Sticks that might
Hold up my little shelter

I made a little house
In it lives my little mouse
Supporting beams
Browns and greens
Describe my little shelter

I made a little house
In it lives my little mouse
Woven walls
Size for dolls
Inside my little shelter

I made a little house
In it lives my little mouse
Small enough for fleas
But not for you and me

Rough, smooth and crinkly.
In my little comfy house.

Light, gray brown mossy green.
In my little comfy house
Cozy.
In my little comfy house.

Different looks different
images but only one
little comfy little
house.

In my bumpy house
you can sew.

In my colorful house
you can sleep.

In my round and bumpy house
I am warm.

In my cozy house
it is safe.

Warm
leafy green
mossy green
warm
bumpy acorns
wrinkly leaves
warm
sticks holding
leaves covering
warm
as my dad
warm
as my mom

In my little mushroom, small enough
for a mouse, with the smooth gray walls

In my little mushroom, small enough for a mouse, in the cosy brown roof, there lived a chipmonk, that loved his warmhouse.

In my little house
I'm shaded from the sun
In my little house
I'm protected from the rain
In my little house
I'm feeling warm and cozy

I am protected from the rain,
Under the woodchips so very plain.

I am protected from the rain,
surrounded by acorns so very plain.

I am protected from the rain,
In my round house so very plain.

I am protected from the rain,
In my bumpy house so very plain.

I am protected from the rain,
In my stubby house so very plain.

A small house in the wood can be full of surprises, but you might find a leaf or two.

A small house in the wood can be full of surprises you might find a cat named Sue.

A small house in the wood can be full of surprises, you might find a rock or three.

A small house in the wood can be full of surprises you will fee. free.

I sleep in my cosy house
I eat in my rocky house
I live in my rought house
I work in my splintery house
