From Kim Boehm...A New Year and a new plan..I am now officially "semi- retired"... I will still be doing Electrical work, but on a scaled down basis...In the spring I plan on resuming the task of removing vehicles, old fuel oil tanks and some scrap metals from the Island...My focus of this venture is to reduce potential pollution of our groundwater and aquifers. If there is no good drinking water, we will not have an Island that can sustain a community. Abandoned vehicles and old fuel oil tanks have been identified as the greatest potential for groundwater pollution.

The major issue I am having at this time is converting my existing vehicle to perform the task. It is with great remorse, that I have to ask for financial assistance to reach my goal...I have asked the Town for assistance and have been told they have no interest. Several Island associations have also not been of any help. If there are any Island associations or private concerns that can help me I would appreciate it to no end. My goal is modest....3000.00 for repairs and modifications to my existing vehicle would get the ball rolling....At current scrap prices, I would be able to remove non running vehicles for 150 to 200 dollars per vehicle, and cover expenses. I would still remove running vehicles for no fee...Oil tanks are priced according to location and the amount of oil left in them.

Again, I would like to thank all who have helped in the past...financially, morally or otherwise.

Just a quick review...Since this "program" started there have been OVER 750 vehicles (as well as tons of other stuff) removed . I average 50 vehicles a year, plus other metals, oil tanks, etc. Four non-conforming "junkyards" have been mitigated and several more are in the process of being cleaned up, hopefully by the fall of 2018...
One more thing....in the Spring, if any one has community service hours to work off, I can always use a hand...
