Chebeague Island Cemetery

More progress in the efforts to document the Chebeague burials. Several more people have been added so the total is now 1,470. Additional connections have been made in other cemeteries. Personal photos have been added. One person is collecting information to replace the wooden crosses that once marked the graves of ancestors with permanent monuments. The wooden crosses rotted years ago so the new monuments will be a welcome addition to the history of Chebeague. Anyone have knowledge of anymore burials that have been missed?

Bill Calthorpe took many photos yesterday of the graves at the Ballards on Cottage Road [start with Elizabeth Ricker on findagrave Chebeague] and those in the Chandlers Cove Cemetery [start with John Hamilton 1709-1767] to see the persons believed to be buried in each area. Bill e-mailed them to me and I added many of them to the proper entries. These photos are a FANTASTIC addition to entries in the main cemetery.

Still need photos from the Golf Course stones, burials and headstones installed after 2008, and many in the older part of the cemetery.

THANKS for the efforts of all who have contributed information and photos to make this document possible. It is a document that will live forever on the internet. Can be added to for years to come. A gift to grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and others through the years.
