The Trek Across Maine is a 180 mile ride in three days that goes from Bethel to Belfast. I road in it last year and road 109 miles and had to drop out due to a lung infection caused by the pollen. I am stronger and soooo ready to complete the trek this year and am riding with Sandy Mailman in preparation for our East Coast Trek that we will be riding in October of 2015, from Cousins Island to Orlando, Florida. If you are able to make a donation to fight lung disease of one type or another please go to one or both of our links. Go to Support Virginia! or Support Sandy! above the water bottle.

We are also doing the Tour de Cure on June 8th, the weekend before the Trek Across Maine, Riding for the American Diabetes Association. My Nephew Scott Libby has been living the life of a diabetic since he was 8 yrs old and continues to. My Grandfather (has passed), Mother and sister all have/had diabetes. This February a young man on the island has been diagnosed w/ type 1 diabetes.. So I am riding in honor of all these people and their families who deal (or dealt) daily with the challenges of diabetes.

Thank you for all of your support! Virginia Tatakis-Calder and Sandy Mailman
