Little Chebeague Work Sessions

Tuesday July 20- Restoration work- we will be releasing trees burdened with invasive bittersweet. Boat leaves from Portland Yacht Services Dock at 0830, return about 3PM. Bring a lunch, water, PFD, hand clippers and hand pruning saw (if you have them) and enjoy saving noble trees from evil vines on a beautiful island. Contact Erno to reserve a place in the boat or let him know that you plan to join us on the island.

Wednesday July 21- Natural resource assessment- Calling all naturalists, botanists, ecologists and restorationists to informally assess the natural resources and restoration issues on Little Chebeague- This will be an introductory walk about of the island to take an initial look at the island vegetation and wildlife, the current restoration work and discuss future goals, methods and techniques. I envision this as the beginning of an ongoing series of visits and conversations. Boat leaves from Portland Yacht Services Dock at 0830, return about 3PM. Bring a lunch, water, PFD. Contact Erno to reserve a place in the boat or let him know that you plan to join us on the island.

Save the date! On Wednesday, August 18 we are planning a community clipping party and pot luck/BYO lunch on the beach at Little Chebeague to celebrate progress in restoring the Island and reflecting on the future of the island. Stay tuned for details. Questions or ideas- contact Erno
