Through the Cumberland/Chebeague Recreation Department and a grant from The Recompense Foundation (now The Recompense Fund) we were able to take some exciting hikes to the White Mountains. This trip was free for the 3rd and 4th graders and the following week we took the 5th, 6th and 7th graders. We were also able to have an Appalachian Mountain Club naturalist join us for these hikes this year.

The school children that went were Danielle Rich, Lucy Brown, Linsey Musslewhite, Lauren Miller, Matt McCollom, Eric Ross, Ben Bushee, Rachel Damon, Ruthie Putnam, and Lindsey Hamilton. We had Peer Leaders Jennifer Vittinner, a senior, Chris Towle a Jr. High Student, and Jessica Fontaine. The chaperones were Beverly Johnson, Douglas Ross, Gail Miller, Jon Rich, Ian Brown and Doug Damon.
