There were significant repairs totaling $3400 to the sailing
school fleet. Fortunately,
generous donations in the spring covered these expenses. Donations continue to be important to
the health of the program and all members are encouraged to remember CIYC in
their end of the year giving.
At this point, boatyard storage and instructor wages are yet
to be paid.

students) - the sessions have been full with a waiting list for most of the
sessions
á
6 scholarships
á
Flexible participation in racing; great growth
in racing!
Fleet:
á
4 JY15Õs (aging but stable; increasing expense
re: upkeep, parts, etc)
á
2 420Õs (ditto)
á
One Bullseye, Wika, donated a few years back by
the Whitman family
á
One Bullseye, HeBig Too, on loan last year and
this year from the Layng family
á
And, one new donation this year: OÕDay ÒOspreyÓ
daysailer, donated by the Gwillim family
á
Two CICSS launches
The fleet is 8 years old and maintenance continues to be an issue - though the hulls are fine. A large number of centerboards needed to be replaced this year. Bob Earnest had a mold made by Danny Todd (on the island) that helped with the cost of the producing the replacements and will keep the future replacement cost down.
Looking forward, what we need:
á
Students, volunteers, and participation!
á
Continued flow of great instructors
á
Maintenance / replacements lines / deck work on
Wika (volunteers?)
á
Contributions towards fleet maintenance and
eventual additions to the fleet
á
New idea: a Òconstruction typeÓ enclosed trailer
that could replace ÒThe GhettoÓ for onsite storage of books, sails, parts, etcÉ
A hearty thank you to Bob Earnest for all his efforts with the
Sailing School. We need to
consider a replacement and plan the transition since Bob will be ending his
leadership tenure in the near future.

Rozallia Project will be on Chebeague on Monday. The boat draws 11 feet and cannot come
into the dock so there will be shuttle for tours beginning at 2:00 pm. All are
welcome, and kids are especially encouraged to visit. At 7:30 there will be a
talk at the boatyard about the project.
Bob Halpin ordered burgees that will be available in
September. Members should please
let him know if they are interested in obtaining one.
CIYC is seeking volunteers to fill various positions that are
currently vacant. We are also looking to revitalize the Yacht Club and to
reinvigorate the racing program.
Call for motion to adjourn at 6:48 pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Lisa Spiegel Morasch
