In early June the same publishers issued Barrie's "Between Mirage and Miracle - Selected Poems for Seasons, Festivals and the Occasional Revelation." The dedication page of this volume reads as follows:
"I dedicate this book in gratitude to the people of Chebeague Island, Maine, and of the Chebeague United Methodist Church who, for over forty years, have shared the welcome gifts of hospitality and community with true generosity and genuine friendship."

US Poet Laureate and Pulitzer Prize winning poet Daniel Hoffman writes of this book, "These poems extend and transcend Barrie Shepherd's revelations of reality in their honesty, range and clarity, they offer pleasures as well as truths."

Both books were written, for the most part, during the past few summers on Chebeague Island.
