Chebeague Island School
Responsibilities, including but not limited to:
- Introduces new learning one-on-one and in small groups. .
- Review and reinforce learning previously introduced by the
classroom teacher or appropriate content specialist or assist
in drill or practice activities.
- Performs non-instructional, non-evaluating functions.
- Attends workshops and other staff development programs as
directed.
- Assists in the preparation of instructional materials appropriate
for the student's needs as directed. This may include activities
for students to work on at home.
- Interviewing and providing discipline as required
- Preparing program materials, running off papers, making games,
laminating, etc.
- Participates in inservicing and statewide program related
activities as recommended
- by supervisor.
- Checks notebooks, corrects papers, supervises testing and
make-up work as assigned
- by the teacher.
- Participates in PET process as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned
COMPUTER LAB:
- Instructs student on use of computers, printer's etc.
- Loads software into computers.
- Maintains accurate inventory of all equipment, software,
and licenses, Etc.
- Ensures all students are aware of district policies concerning
computer usage.
- Assist staff with computer related issues.
- Works cooperatively with district technology supervisor.
SPECIAL EDUCATION:
- Provides physical restraints using MANDT or CPI systems.
- Meets regularly with supervising teacher or Special Education
Director to communicate program progress and student needs.
- Liaison between classrooms and Special Education rooms.
- Assist physically challenged students with activities / needs.
- Intervene physically when students present a danger to themselves
or others.
IN - SCHOOL SUSPENSION:
- Ensure all assigned students are present and maintain attendance
data.
- Ensure students have assignments from missed classes.
- Maintain an atmosphere in the class that is conductive to
study and assignment completion.
- Report any rules violations to administrations.
Requirements:
2 years of post secondary education or
a combination equivalent of 60 hours of approved study in educational
field. Experience in the field of education desirable, but not
mandatory. State of Maine authorization as Educational Technician
II.
