MATH

Dear Parents:

Many of you have asked how you can support your kids with math. Besides using the resources provided by the school, there is one more thing you can do at home: use the internet to practice math facts. Kids this age are rapidly approaching a time when knowing their math facts will help them excel and not knowing their facts will hold them back. It's difficult to learn division when you're trying to remember what 7 x 3 is! It's hard to work with fractions without knowing multiplication and division facts. The websites below provide worksheets and on'line drills to help sharpen those skills.

These kinds of drills really pay off in increased fluency, just like reading, reading, reading makes better readers. We hope you'l take the time to have your kids practice several times a week, if not on a daily basis. They want to use the computer anyway - let's put it to work!

Thank you for your support.

Sincerely,
Andrea Powell
