Lida M. Small

 

CUMBERLAND - Lida M. Small, 92, of Fenderson Road, Chebeague Island, died Wednesday at a Yarmouth nursing home after a long illness.

A lifelong resident of the island, she was a daughter of Sherman M. and Alice Dyer Hamilton, attended schools there and was a homemaker all her life.

Mrs. Small was a member of the White Memorial Seventh-Day Adventist Church of Portland, and the Chebeague Island and Maine State Granges.

She enjoyed cooking, crocheting and traveling, and loved visiting her grandchildren.

Her husband, Ralph E.N. Small, whom she married in 1921, died in 1970.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Wilbert (Marjorie) Munroe, with whom she lived, and Mrs. Francis (Geraldine) Killian of Amity, Ark.; a sister, Mrs. Ellsworth (Melba) Miller of Chebeague Island; six grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson.

Visiting hours are from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Lindquist Funeral Home, 37 Portland St., Yarmouth. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday in Chebeague Island Methodist Church with the Rev. Robert Leon officiating. Burial will follow in Chebeague Island Cemetery.
