Harry M. Ross Sr., 57

SOUTH PORTLAND - Harry M. Ross Sr., 57, also of Long Island, died Jan. 25,
2000 when the vessel Two Friends sank off Boon Island Ledge.

He was born in Port Jefferson, N.Y., a son of Harry and Martha Davis Ross, and while
still an infant, moved to Long Island where he lived for most of the rest of his life.

He started fishing in his teens and it became his life's work, often in company with his
cousin, Lawrence Rich Sr., who also was lost in the sinking.

Surviving are his wife of six years, Yuberquis Betances Ross of South Portland; three
sons, Harry Jr. and Michael, both of South Portland, and Christopher of Chicago; a
6-month-old daughter, Erica of South Portland; and four grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Hobbs Funeral Home, 230 Cottage Road,
South Portland. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 1 p.m. Monday at the Cathedral of
the Immaculate Conception, Portland.
