Thelma J. O'Donnell


     SOUTH PORTLAND -- Thelma J. O'Donnell, 90, died Wednesday, May 10, 2006.
     She was born Nov. 1, 1915 in Jay, a daughter of Frederick A. and Lydia J. (Pillsbury) Jackson. She attended Jay Schools and graduated from Jay High School. Thelma went on to graduate from the Maine General School of Nursing in Portland in the Class of 1937.
     Following graduation she went to work as a registered nurse.
     On Feb. 17, 1938, she married Philip T. O'Donnell Sr., at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
     She was predeceased by her husband, Philip on June 21, 1996.
     Surviving are her four children, Mary Jane Doherty of Leominster, Mass., Ruth E. Kimball and her husband Peter of South Portland, Patricia A. McPherson and her husband Carl of Topsham and Philip T. O'Donnell Jr., and his wife Dolores of Webster, Mass.; 13 grandchildren, Joanne Lamoureux, Richard J. Yakusik, Michael Yakusik, Dianne DeLucca, Steven Yakusik, Christine M. Kimball, Gardi Smith, Jeff Kimball, John C. McPherson, Aaron M. McPherson, Devin P. McPherson, Michelle R. Josephson and Philip T. O'Donnell III; and 20 great-grandchildren, Kelley, Rick, Erica, Chris, Robert, Jessica, Anthony, Steve, Madison, Jenna, Zakry, Cassidy, Seth, Alec, Sean, Katelyn, Nik, Kylie, Brady and Megan.
     Visiting hours will be from 5-8 p.m., Friday, May 12 at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford Street, Portland. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 13 at Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Congress Street, Portland. Burial will follow at Old Calvary Cemetery, South Portland.
