Marjory loved Chebeague Island. Camp Providence, next to the boat yard, was built in 1889 by her great grandfather. In her youth, around 1926, she enjoyed rowing around the Island with friends and also rowing over to South Harpswell for ice cream. In her 70's, she spoke of the beautiful sight of seeing a deer enter the water at Rose's Point, swim across in front of camp and the boat yard, and walk ashore further up the cove. One of her lasts requests was to be able to smell the air from Chebeague Island. Her son Ernie was able to bring to her both "air" collected from the front porch of Camp Providence and a bottle of well water from her beloved camp also.
