Lois Mary Sparks, 70

PORTLAND -- Lois Mary Sparks, 70, of Portland died unexpectedly Friday June 8, 2012 as a result of a motor vehicle accident in Waldoboro. She was born April 30, 1942 in Portland a daughter of the late Philip and Bessie (Wildes) Scribner.

Lois graduated from Portland High School in 1960 and from SMCC in 1992 as a Registered Nurse. She worked for 38 years for Paul's Food Service and also for Seaside Nursing faculty and Gorham House. Lois also taught CNA classes for SMCC. She enjoyed gardening and loved flamingos, making sure she had a variety on display in her yard.

Lois is survived by her husband of 52 years, Murray Sparks Sr; her children: Christa Sparks of Portland, Cheryl Stevens and her husband Chet of Portland, Murray Jr and his wife Joely of Portland, and William Michael Sparks of Portland; her siblings: Carroll Scribner and his wife Sandra of Fla., Russell Scribner and his wife Penny of Calif., Judith Perez of Calif., Barbara Libby of Waterford, Philip Scribner of S. Portland, Jo Ann Sparks and her husband Gerald of Portland, James Scribner and his wife Natalie of Lewiston; five grand children: Eric, Samantha. Cameron, Addyson, and Trey; four Great-grandchildren: Brianna, Hayley, Logan and Bailey. She also leaves behind her extended family Ernest Sparks and his wife Donna of Saco, several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her siblings: Clayton Scribner, Donald Scribner and Norma McDonald.
