BIDDEFORD -- George C. Droggitis, 51, of Biddeford died Monday
Jan. 1, 2007, at his home.
He was born in Biddeford on Aug. 25,
1955, a son of Charles and Mary Scontsas Droggitis. He was educated
in Biddeford schools graduating from Biddeford High School in
the class of 1973. He graduated from St. Anslem College in Manchester,
N.H., in 1977, with a degree in Criminal Justice.
George began working as a young man as
a busboy in the family restaurant The Wonderbar Steakhouse. He
continued to work there through his high school and college years
as a cook. He later worked as a purchasing agent for the Sonesta
Hotel in Portland. On May 24, 1987, he married Debbie L. MacNeill
in Portland.
In the late 1980s, he worked as an Accounts
Manager for North Center Food Service of Augusta, in the Southern
District of the state.
George had been recognized nationally
as one of the top 12 salesman in the country for General Mills
Foods. He was Accounts Manager of the year as well as Sales Manager
of the year several times and received the Chairman's Elite Award
from North Center along with several local awards in food service.
Among his interests, George enjoyed owning
and restoring old classic cars, the New York Giants and Yankees.
He loved classic rock concerts with his children and working around
his home with his dog Piper.
Surviving are his wife of 19 years, of
Biddeford; one son, Dustin Droggitis of Biddeford; one daughter,
Zoe Droggitis of Biddeford; one brother, Spiros C. Droggitis and
his wife Ottilie of Bathesda, Md.; sister, Donna Thomson and her
husband J. David of Biddeford Pool; and several nieces, nephews
and cousins.
Visiting hours will be 4 to 8 p.m. on
Thursday, at Hope Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be Private.
Arrangements are by Hope Memorial Chapel, 480 Elm Street, Biddeford.
