Donal Guptile Parr, 80
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -- Donal Guptile
Parr, 80, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2007, at the Union Printers
Home, after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease.
Born in Portland, April 29, 1927, the
son of the late George Frederick Parr and Edith M. Lowell Parr.
He moved to Chebeague at age six with his father and stepmother
Myrtle G. Parr. They moved in with Nellie Sylvester Gould, Myrtie's
mother, who Don shared a special bond with. He attended the island
schools and left for the Army at 18. After two years he settled
in Boston, Mass. He was a sheet metal worker and mechanic most
of his life.
Don was predeceased by his Nana, Nellie
Sylvester Gould; stepmother Myrtle Parr; son Andrew; a brother,
Lowell Parr; sister Eileen Parr Rideout; and stepbrother Lewis
Moynihan. Survivors include his beloved wife of 50 years, Barbara
Wright Parr; six children, Laura, Bruce, Susan, Janice, Jayne,
and Linda; 18 grandchildren; and 16 1/2 great-grandchildren.
There was always a spot in his heart
for Chebeague Island. His family was all he ever lived for and
Charlotte, whom he loved like a sister all his life.
Disposition of his ashes will be done
by family members in private.
