FALMOUTH -- David L. Adams, 74, of
Falmouth, died Oct. 24, 2006, at Falmouth by the Sea. Mr. Adams
was born in Springfield, Mass., a son of Dr. and Mrs. William
Bradford Adams (nee Emily Leonard Haynes) of Longmeadow, Mass.
He graduated from Classical High School in Springfield, and then
joined the US Navy, serving in the submarine service. After the
Navy, Mr. Adams married the former Nancy Baldwin of Longmeadow
and attended the University of Maine at Orono, graduating in 1957
with a B.A. in business.
Mr. Adams worked in real estate, specializing
in commercial real estate appraisal. He worked in the Portland
area for many years before relocating to Cincinnati and Batavia,
Ohio, where he founded Adams Appraisal. Mr. Adams was president
of the Society of Real Estate Appraisers in Cincinnati from 1987-1989.
As a young man, Mr. Adams was an avid sailor. He established the
sailing club at UMO, was a charter member of the Chebeague Island
Yacht Club and remained an active sailor and recreational boater
for many years. Mr. Adams was a past president of the Portland
Club. In Ohio, he took an interest in horses and gentleman farming.
He and his wife, Kim, took great pride in showing Tennessee Walkers,
one of which was a Grand Champion, named Secret.
Mr. Adams was predeceased by his second
wife, Kim DeHart Adams, after 27 years of marriage. He is survived
by three daughters, Deborah A. Bowman of Chebeague Island, Eliza
Jane Adams and her husband Rockland Helpin of Cumberland, Betsy
B. Adams of Cambridge, Mass.; stepdaughter Lina K. Orr, of Cincinnati;
stepson Ian F. Orr of Gardnerville, Nev.; brother Robert S. Adams
of Daytona Beach, Fla. and Owl's Head; and seven grandchildren.
The family is planning a private memorial
service.
