Cynthia Lee Coombs

cindyCynthia Lee Coombs, 59, passed away on February 15, 2017 after a brief illness. Cindy was born in Portland, Maine in 1957. She attended Portland schools and graduated from Portland High School in 1975. Cindy went on to attend the University of Southern Maine where she graduated in 1979 with a Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice. 

Cindy was married for 32 years to Glenn and in 1997 they were blessed with the birth of their daughter, Emma. Cindy was a devoted wife and an even more devoted mother. Emma and her mother built a strong bond with each other that will live on forever. 

Cindy's passion was music and over the years she played in the S.D. Warren Band with her father, Philip. Cindy also played her saxophone in the orchestra pit of the Biddeford City Music Theater's production of Oklahoma in 1985. Her favorite type of music was classical, but she also enjoyed swing, and all types of music from all genres. She found great strength in music and was constantly humming or singing a song. Cindy also sang in the choirs of the Clark Memorial United Methodist Church and the Chebeague Island United Methodist Church. Cindy's other hobbies included baking, reading, and working on puzzles. She also enjoyed word games and had made many friends all over the world through internet word games.

Cindy is survived by her husband Glenn, her daughter Emma of Portland, her mother Janet Burns of Portland, her father Philip Burns, and his wife Gail of Kittery, her brother and sister in law Eric and Diane Burns of Scarborough, her brother and sister in law Doug and Kim Ashby of Limington. She is also survived by sister and brother in laws from Glenn's family, nieces and nephews on both sides of the family, and her best friend of 47 years, Suzanne McIver of Portland. 

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 25 at 1:00pm at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodfords Street in Portland.
