ORTH YARMOUTH -- Robert L. 'Bub' Thurlow Jr., 52, of North Yarmouth, passed away on the night of Jan. 29, 2013. He died surrounded by his loving family and friends in his home, after a courageous battle with cancer. NORTH YARMOUTH -- Robert L. 'Bub' Thurlow Jr., 52, of North Yarmouth, passed away on the night of Jan. 29, 2013. He died surrounded by his loving family and friends in his home, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Bub was born on Feb. 16, 1960, in Portland, the son of Robert and Constance (Avery) Thurlow. He attended Yarmouth schools and went on to become a master plumber, who carried on the family business, Thurlow Plumbing and Heating.
Bub was an avid outdoorsman, who enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, and snowmobiling. Some of his favorite times were spent camping with his family and friends in Eustis or at the family camp in Rangeley. Bub was full of life and laughter, and lived each day to the fullest. He had an exceptional social talent and could make friends wherever he went. He was a practical joker who maintained his wonderful and quirky sense of humor even throughout his illness.
He is survived by his daughters, Laura Thurlow and Katie Thurlow; his sister Betsey Barter; his nephews, Ed, Dan, John, and James; as well as very many special and close friends. He was predeceased by his parents; his sister Pat; his niece Jessica; and his close friend Harold.
A memorial service celebrating Bub's life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 9, 2013, at 11 a.m., at the North Yarmouth Congregational Church, corner of Routes 115 and 231, North Yarmouth.
