Roger P. Bruley

rogerSWAMPSCOTT — Roger P. Bruley, aged 70, of Swampscott, died on Saturday, Aug. 24, 2019 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House after a lengthy illness. He was surrounded by his loving family. He is the husband of Donna Marie (Vincent) Bruley, with whom he shared 27 years of marriage.

He was the son of the late Philip and Dorothy (Ledwell) Bruley. He was raised in Swampscott, and was a graduate of Swampscott High School and UMass Lowell.

Roger retired from the MWRA in 2011. His wife retired shortly after his cancer diagnosis so that they could spend the rest of his life doing the things that they loved: traveling, spending time with family and going to their beloved house on Chebeague Island, Maine, where he had been going since he was a young boy. Roger loved life and family, and spent his last years living in the moment without complaint. Roger also loved fishing, boating and was an avid Patriots fan.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a daughter, Jenny (Brewer) Galacar and her husband Joshua of Salem; his grandchildren, Judah and Maple. He leaves four sisters, Gaye Collins of North Carolina, Dena Coffe and her husband Dan of Newburyport, Marcia Bruley of North Carolina and Frankie Doughty and her husband Chris of Maine. He also leaves several nieces and nephews, and great nephew, Seamus.

Roger was also a devoted foster parent to several children whom he was happy to remain involved with.
