Gloria Bates (Tobey) Perini passed into eternal life on March
4, 2002. The daughter of Vennard and Pearle Tobey, she was born
July 10, 1930 in Portland, Maine. Gloria spent many childhood
summers at her families' homes on Chebeague Island, off the coast
of Maine. She grew up in the Boston, MA area and attended Pine
Manor Junior College and Barnard College where she majored in
Journalism. Gloria's marriage brought her to Florida in the early
1960's where she devoted herself to raising their 10 children.
She was active in real estate and worked for Gratitude House
for many years. Mom was an avid reader, enjoyed collecting antiques
and expressed her creativity through home decorating and crafts.
She was a wonderful daughter, niece, friend, sister, wife, mother,
grandmother and coworker. Throughout her life mom maintained
a deep love for New England. She will be deeply missed by her
family and multitude of friends.
Gloria is survived by her children: Tobey Perini and husband,
Allen McMullen, Penny Perini McBride and husband, Gary McBride,
Sarah Perini and daughter, Valerie Perini, Lisa Perini, Rita Perini
Higgins and husband, Patrick Higgins and her son, Frederick DiStasio,
Louis Perini III, Benjamin Perini, Susan Perini, Paul Perini and
Phillip Perini.
In lieu of flowers, the family of Gloria would appreciate contributions
to any of the following organizations: Chebeague Island Recreation
Center (Maine), Gratitude Guild, Inc. (West Palm Beach), American
Lung Association (Palm Beach County Chapter), Mounts Botanical
Garden (West Palm Beach) or Friends of the Palm Beach County Library.
A Memorial Mass will be said at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jupiter,
Florida.
