SEBAGO - Anne L. Gowen Brown, 76, of Hog Fat Hill Road, passed away Dec. 14, 2004 at Bridgton Hospital.
She was born in Portland, a daughter of Benjamin H. and Ada S. Littlefield Gowen. Mrs. Brown was educated in South Portland schools and graduated from South Portland High in 1946.
She spent summers on Chebeague Island at the family homestead and never lost her affection for the island and the people.
She was a secretary/bookkeeper for the superintendent of S.A.D. 55 for 26 years retiring in 1990.
Mrs. Brown was a member of the Sebago Center Community Church and played the organ for many years. She was also active in the Sebago Historical Society.
Her husband of 49 years, Robert A. Brown, and daughter, Rebecca Jones, died previously.
Surviving are a son, Robert H. and his wife Gloria Brown of Chebeague Island; a daughter Robin E. and her husband Lane Gosbee of Sebago; two brothers, William R. Gowen of Pownal and John H. Gowen of Florida; four grandchildren; and a loving extended family.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Dec. 20, at Haley Cemetery, Sebago. Pastor Keith Dubuc will officiate. Arrangements are by Neal & York, Kezar Falls. (www.nealyork.com)
