Swan's Island Library Needs Help

The Swans Island Library and Historical Society building was burned to the ground after being struck by lightning.  A temporary library has been set up at the Town Office.  Director Candis Joyce is facing the huge task of rebuilding from the ground up.  If you would like to send a monetary donation to the Swans Island Library, please send to the following address:

LIBRARY SERVICES

FREE BORROWING CARD

BOOKS AND AUDIO TAPES: two-week loans.

VIDEOS: 7-day loan period. Suggested donation $1.00 per movie (to maintain the collection).

RENEWALS: We are happy to renew any material that does not have a reserve on it. You may phone in a renewal at 846-4351.

OVERDUE FINES: Books, 5¢ per day. Videos, 25¢ per day.

COPIER RATES: 15¢ per page up to 20 copies, 10¢ per page for over 20 copies. 11 x 17 copies are 25¢ each.  Color copies are 30¢ each.

FAX MACHINE: Our machine is operational 24 hours a day on an independent line, 846-4358. The fee is $1.00 per page,  $3.00 for outgoing beyond North America

INTER-LIBRARY LOAN: We can order books from other libraries.  We ask for $2.00 per book to cover mailing costs.

SPECIAL COLLECTIONS: We have notebooks of photographs, Island history, and family genealogies.

HOUSE RENTAL LIST:  This can be obtained by emailing your request to cheblib@hotmail.com or sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to 247 South Road, Unit #3, Chebeague Island, Maine 04017.

ISLAND PHONE DIRECTORY:  The Library publishes the phone book every other year and puts updates in the monthly Calendar. Please send any changes to the Library.  Directories available for $10.00.

HOMEWORK SUPPLY BOX:  Students have access to notebook paper, construction paper, graph paper, markers, colored pencils, poster board, and other homework supplies.

COLLEGE INFORMATION:  We have college guides, financial aid info, FAFSA forms and scholarship info.

OFFICE SUNDRIES FOR SALE: We have paper and card stock in a variety of colors, envelopes, laminate sheets, folders, and binders.

LIBRARY ITEMS FOR SALE Note cards and post cards.  Also, used books, videos and audios.

OTHER ITEMS FOR SALE: Books, cookbooks, note cards, bumper stickers, license plates and place mats from various Island organizations.
