2/1/16 Message:

The Kids' Place has started a new lending library of books that could be helpful to parents.
These books come recommended by a woman who worked as a preschool/kindergarten teacher for over 30 years, raised 4 children of her own and has taught parenting classes for the last 10 years.

I will review 2 books each week, and if anyone is interested in borrowing them, please stop by The Kids' Place and inquire. I would love to start sharing. Books are aimed at early childhood development through teenage-hood. Please don't disregard this, if you have a teen and are having trouble communicating with them.

First book: When Your Kids Push Your BUttons and What You Can Do about It for parents of Toddlers to Teens Written by Bonnie Harris. This book helps parents focus on their own buttons and hot spots that exist from your own childhood that get triggered by your own children. This book has been read by many parents and many have gained insight into what makes them react, why and how to over come it.

Second Book: Brave Parenting, A Buddhist-inspired Guide to Raising Emotionally Resilient Children Written by Krissy Pozatek, LICSW

This book is an enjoyable read with many insights into emotions and behaviors. This book is full of tools and strategies to become more effective in communication. This book is geared to middle ages and older children. The examples that are used are wonderful, and familiar to many parents.

Stay tuned for the introduction of two more books through The Kids' Place lending library next week. If there is a book you have found particularly helpful in your parenting, please let me know, I will give it a read and add it to our library.
