Mentoring Program

One of the School Committee Goals is "encouraging post secondary education for all of our students, financial support for higher education, and mentoring program for supporting secondary education and post secondary education." We have been working with the Island Institute, community members, the Library and the Rec Center to establish these goals. We had a well attended meeting at the library with the Island Institute and have established a mentoring program for Post Secondary Education. Many community members have volunteered to be ready to help with all aspects of continuing education for the whole community. Click here for the list of Mentors.

Online Education - great way to be a "life long learner" - Ed2Go

The Chebeague Island Recreation Center has partnered with the Chebeague Island School in offering an opportunity to sign on to online education. Islanders, winter and summer, now can take online courses through the ed2go and if you go through our website to sign up, a small commission will come back to the rec to be used for education purposes. The ed2go network consists of more than 1,500 of the biggest colleges, universities, and other schools across the United States, Canada, and Australia. They offer hundreds of engaging online courses for adults, covering every topic from Anatomy to Web Design. Click here to sign on to a course. If you have any question please email education@chebeague.net

Free Online Education Opportunities

Many colleges offer free online courses which can be monitored and some even take for credits. I am looking into what is out there now and will add to the list as I find them.
