This beautiful Chebeague-made chair is a recent rendition of an 18th century New England "sack back" armchair. It was made and donated to us by Tom Cushman, and is displayed at the library. Made from red oak, pine, and yellow birch, the chair has hand-turned legs and arm posts, whittled spindles and bow, and a one-piece seat. It is finished with butter-milk paint and Danish oil. |
