What equipment will I need?chebeague.net will either provide you with the equipment you need or help you to get it! The signal will come to an indoor receiver/modem provided by chebeague.net which significantly enhances key system capabilities. The modem’s active diversity indoor antenna, and higher output power improve its performance. The modem also includes auto signal discovery, automatic remote configuration, Voice over Internet (VoIP) telephone support, and is Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) enabled, offering users true ‘Plug and Play’ capabilities.
The indoor antenna and receiver/modem (or outdoor antenna, if needed) will be provided by chebeague.net and will remain the property of chebeague.net. This means that if anything goes wrong with the equipment or when it's time to upgrade, repairs and/or replacement will be done at no charge to the customer. The receiver/modem hooks directly to your computer and you're in business! You may choose to distribute the Internet through
your home to other computers using a router, either wired or wireless, like the
one pictured here.
If you go wireless, then to receive Internet on your desktop computer, you can choose a PCI card network adapter or a USB plug-in: For your laptop (if it's not already wireless-ready), you can use the USB adapter pictured above, or a PCMIA card
like this one: Finally, most PDA devices have wireless capabilities either built in or
optional. Adapters/antennas typically cost between $10 and $30. Routers run between $50 and $85. Wireless PDAs are $200 and up.
