Beatrice Grover Bowen
music teacher in Falmouth schools FALMOUTH - Beatrice Grover Bowen, 82, of Chestnut Street died Thursday at a Portland hospital. She was born in Eliot, daughter of Maurice B. and Sadie Perkins Grover, attended York schools graduating from York High School, and graduated in 1936 from Bates College, where she was a soloist at chapel services. Mrs. Bowen moved here 55 years ago. She retired in 1976 as the music teacher for the elementary grades in Falmouth schools. She also taught previously on Chebeague Island and Cumberland and North Yarmouth schools. She was a member of Foreside Community Church, where sbe once was choir director. She was a member of Womens Literary Union, Delta Kappa Gamma and the College Club of Greater Portland. She also was a volunteer for many years at Brentwood Manor in Yarmouth. Her husband, Richard H. Bowen, died in 1988. Surviving are a son, Richard H. Bowen of Yarmouth; a daughter, Ruth-Ann Harrod of Falmouth; two brothers, Roger Grover of Old Lyme, Conn., and Gerald Grover of Ogunquit; four grandchildren and a great granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday in Foreside Community Church, 340 Foreside Road. The Rev. Paul Shupe uill offlciate. Burial will be private. Arrangements are by Lindquist funeral Home, Yarmouth (Copied from the Portland Press Herald, Friday, December 20, 1996)
